GOOGLE - MESSAGES FOR JAPAN

As support messages flooded the web after the March 11th earthquake in Japan, we realized that these multi-lingual messages weren’t accessible to the people who needed them most – the Japanese. By partnering with Google Translate, we created a site that could instantly translate these messages of hope into Japanese.

The site automatically translated 41,600 messages of hope from over 40 different countries around the world. And to make sure we reached the Japanese public, messages in banners were posted on their most popular websites.

We allowed the world to do something it had never been able to do before - use Google Translate, not as a utility, but rather to express the better part of our humanity, and help rebuild Japan’s spirit at the same time.
